Our method, Wellbeing Design, is based on environmental psychology studies and holistic design principles. We understand how the different environments influence people, then we work with the most impactful design elements and resources to co-create ideal interior spaces.
We consider all aspects of people's wellbeing and health, as well as our clients' visions, goals and culture.
We Focus on Eight Areas:
Connections to nature are integral to our wellbeing; not only are we invigorated when we are immersed in natural environments, but studies have revealed many benefits to the physical and mental health of those who have regular, meaningful contact with natural elements and processes. See Resources page.
Our methods go beyond adding plants or a living wall, to more complex practice that involves considering and tastefully blending every natural ingredient and processes that contributes to health and wellness.
The benefits of natural light are not debatable. Good design maximizes natural light in interior spaces; however, when design faces limitations, alternative lighting combinations and innovative technology can compensate, and even approach, the benefits of full spectrum illumination. See Resources page. Colour temperature, colour renderings, function, age, and mood are some factors we consider in this design process.
Colours affect our emotions, energy level, and to some extent the way we react to events. By understanding this impact, we develop colour palettes to enhance people’s experiences and serve specific requirements, in addition to aesthetics. The right colours and combinations can boost energy, enhance mood and focus, and increase feelings of belonging and connectedness. Misused, colour can elicit feelings of loneliness, agitation, boredom, or other negative emotions. See Resources page.
Although HVAC systems is not our specialty, air is an element that cannot be ignored. Our recommendations contribute to healthy air quality through mindful selection of products that avoid introducing toxins and pollutants, and that emphasize natural, healthy materials. We may also provide recommendations for equipment, methods, or experts, as we keep up-to-date with all that contributes to health and wellness indoors.
The obligations of contemporary life have shifted the issues to which our homes must respond. Our need to be efficient, focused, and creative, to rejuvenate and have fun, to maintain healthy habits, to strengthen family ties, to improve intimacy, to accommodate all members of blended families, to address the complexities of multi-generational families in the western world, and to meet the needs of an ageing generation, are the new basics. Design should address all of these in different proportions, depending on the client's requirements and the users’ circumstances.
Inclusivity & Barrier Free Living
When spaces are designed to be accessible for all people, regardless of physical limitations, family members, friends, and visitors feel welcomed and included. This strengthens families and communities, and helps people to feel safe and self-sufficient. The space becomes pleasant and relatable. All people want to be there.
Uniqueness & Authenticity
Authenticity and uniqueness are important ingredients for a nurturing environment. We strongly believe that making every space distinctively reflect people’s true sense of beauty and core values is crucial to strengthening feelings of belonging, home and inner connectedness. We have developed a unique, effective process to delve into the heart of every project's authenticity and to highlight this truth through unique solutions.
Our efforts to live better cannot ignore sustainability. We focus on solutions and processes that reduce waste, resources and energy consumption as well as contributing to the creation of long-lasting, multifunctional and adaptable spaces. This approach further supports the individual and collective growth and progress.
